Sally Mann's photographic work concentrates almost exclusively on the subjective recording of her family life. The leading characters in her photos are her children, her husband and other close relations. The complicity and the trust between the artist and these «models» enable her to shoot images that attest to a deeply moving tenderness and sincerity.

She herself defines her working method in the following way. «At times, it is difficult to say exactly who makes the pictures. Some are gifts to me from my children: gifts that come in a moment as fleeting as the touch of an angel's wing...»
