Stéphane Aquin has been nominated Curator of contemporary art at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.

François Lachapelle, who has acted as director for the Musée régional de Rimouski, was appointed Head of Visual Arts at the Canada Council for the Arts.

Rober Racine was awarded the Louis Comtois prize, given to an artist in mid career by the City of Montreal and the Association des galeries d'art contemporain.

Marc Séguin was awarded the Pierre-Ayot prize, given to a new artist by the City of Montreal and the Association des garleries d'art contemporain.

Jean McEwen received the Prix Paul-Emile Borduas, one of the most distinguished awards of the Prix du Québec.

Benjamin Weil has been appointed Director of the New Media Centre at the London Institute of Contemporary Arts.

Paolo Colombo, Director of the Centre d'art Contemporain de Genève, has been appointed curator of the 6th International Biennial of Istanbul, to be held September 17 to November 8, 1999.

Harald Szeeman will be the curator of the next two editions (1999 and 2001) of the Venice Biennial.

Rosa Martinez, of Barcelona, will be curator of SITE, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, to be held in the summer of 1999.
