BNL MTL is an organization independent from CIAC MTL

On January 17, 2017, Le Devoir newspaper published an article on the insolvency of the Biennale de Montréal (BNL MTL). Although the article clearly mentioned that the Centre international d’art contemporain de Montréal (CIAC MTL) has not been responsible for BNL MTL since 2013, a number of people still believe that Claude Gosselin, founder of BNL MTL, and the CIAC MTL are still connected to BNL MTL. We have recently heard comments to that effect.

It must be reminded that CIAC MTL transferred all its assets in BNL MTL through a legal act dated April 16, 2013, to the new non-profit organization registered under BNL MTL, an organization totally independent from CIAC MTL.

We must convey once again this information to avoid that CIAC MTL and Claude Gosselin suffer any harm to their reputation because of a misunderstanding of the current situation at BNL MTL. CIAC MTL left an enviable financial situation to BNL MTL as well as a very positive reputation towards the event.

Claude Gosselin and CIAC MTL take this opportunity to thank once again all the individuals, artists, institutions and partners who have made possible the creation of the Biennale de Montréal and the production of the seven (7) first editions of this visual arts event in Montréal.
