From October 28th to November 1st 2010, La Biennale de Montréal - BNL MTL 2011 has taken part in the 11th edition of TIAF - Toronto International Art Fair. Thanks to Tourisme Montréal, the BNL MTL had the opportunity to participate for the first time in one of the largest art fair of North America. The 2010 edition of the TIAF has encountered a true success with a total of about 20 000 visitors.
The presence of the BNL MTL at TIAF obtained a good press review and will surely bring many visitors from Toronto area for May 2011 in Montréal. The friends associations of the Power Plant and MOCCA - Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art, promised to organise group visits.
The Toronto Star cites: "The Toronto presence on the Montreal biennale is a strategic investment to draw this year's TIAF visitors to the 7th edition of the Montreal biennale next May and as a way to "increase tourism" ".
The works of Canadian artist Ian Wallace were shown at the stand of the BNL MTL, where he was presenting the public with a piece that will take part in the next edition. On the subject of "Chance", which is the main theme of the biennale, Wallace writes : "The theme that you propose is one that has been central to my work for a long time; and of course it has been fundamental to the whole history of modern art: - initiated, in my opinion, by Mallarmé's Un coup de dés."
