Every Sunday during the seventh edition of La Biennale de Montréal 2011 will feature screenings at the Cinéma du Parc site from a selection of sixteen short medium and feature length films dealing with poetry, imagination and the random in the art.

Three of the selection of films pay homage to the Quebec painter Guido Molinari, who died in 2004, with that of director Jo Legare in particular bringing us the artist’s reflections on art and life. Artist Daniel Spoerri will also be in the spotlight, with Laurent Védrine’s "Lunch under the Grass” – a world premiere - giving the public a rare

Le Centre international d'art contemporain de Montréal - CIAC is throwing a photography contest for the BNL MTL 2011. Following the theme chosen for this year's biennale, the contest also revolves around the subject of chance.

We ask the participant to answer the following question : What is chance according to you?

In order to answer this question you must send us a photography that represents your personal definition of chance. You also have to write a short descriptive text of a maximum of 250 words that justifies your approarch (not the technical but the artistic approach).

Geneviève Cadieux features among eight recipients of the Governor General's Award in Visual and Media Art. This honor was bestowed upon her in recognition of her remarkable artistic career. Awards will be given out on March 23rd at the Governor General's residence in Ottawa.
We remember Geneviève for her participation bith in 1985 and in 1986 to the Cent jours d'art contemporain de Montréal and to the 2000 edition of La Biennale de Montréal.

We extend our most heartfelt congratulations to Geneviève for this well deserved, prestigious award.

The new BNL MTL 2011 website has now been available on line for two weeks. Extremely functional, event-focused and bilingual, the site aims to inform visitors about the content and activities of La Biennale de Montréal 2011. Visitors will be able to keep up to date on event venues and schedules using a Calendar on wich a section is dedicated to each discipline: visual arts, e-arts, cinema, music, performance and public gatherings. A few cliks oh the mouse will allow them to access delaited information on artists and works presented specifically at the BNL MTL 2011. The site will soon also feature video interviews of commissioners and artists

CIAC welcomes new workers: new energy, new ways of seeing as we continue our active engagement in promoting cultural activities.

Linda Goossens
Linda Goossens has been Responible for CIAC's cultural and educational activities since December 2010. With regards to La Biennale de Montréal, she is coordinating the mediator's team and has taken several interns under her wing. In addition to her CIAC activities, Linda Goossens has been acting as a museum educator at the Montréal Museum of Fine Arts since 2000.
