Chantale Lavoie appointed Administrative Director of the CIAC - Centre international d'art contemporain de Montréal / BNL MTL

(Montréal, January 22, 2010) Claude Gosselin, Chief Executive Officer of the CIAC - Centre international d'art contemporain de Montréal, is pleased to announce the appointment of Chantale Lavoie as the CIAC's Administrative Director effective February 1st, 2010.

Chantale Lavoie holds a Marketing Management Degree from the École des Hautes Études Commerciales at the Université de Montréal and has vast professional experience in a number of varied fields. From Mary 2005 to March 2008, she worked as Assistant to the Executive Director of the Daniel Langlois Foundation for art, science and technology. Following the re-organization of the Daniel Langlois Foundation, she worked as a management consultant for several cultural agencies including the SBC Gallery of Contemporary Art. Her professional experience also includes working as an e-business development Project Manager at Ericsson Canada Inc., from 1998 to 2001.

Chantale Lavoie's responsibilities will include supervising project planning and development, implementation and control of operational budgets, staff management and designing projects aimed at ensuring increased financial autonomy for the CIAC. In keeping with her past experience in the field of new technologies, she will be responsible for the CIAC website and communications via Internet social networks.

Claude Gosselin is happy to welcome Ms. Lavoie to the CIAC team and expresses his gratitude to Antoine Roy-Larouche who is currently writing his Master's thesis in Art Management at the HEC. The members of the CIAC board also welcome Chantale and are committed to collaborating with her to ensure effective corporate management.

The CIAC produces La Biennale de Montréal - BNL MTL; the 7th of which will be held from May 1st to 31st, 2011 under the theme of “Chance/Hazard”. Claude Gosselin, Executive and Artistic Director of the CIAC and David Liss, Director of the Museum of Canadian Contemporary Art (MOCCA) of Toronto will be co-curators of the 2011 event.
