Rober Racine was born in Montréal where he lives and works today. In 1982, the Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal devoted an exhibition to his works. He participated in the Venice Biennial in 1990. From December 7th, 1995 to January 28th, 1996, the CIAC showed his Les Pages-Miroirs.
Several years ago, Rober Racine undertook the creation of his Parc de la langue française, an oversized work that, once completed, will allow visitors to walk though all the words and all the definitions that can be found in a dictionary, as if strolling through a garden of words. Within the framework of this project, the artist has designed two other projects: Pages-Miroirs, which required fourteen years to complete is one of these. It consists of dictionary pages in which words were removed and replaced with a mirror that reflects the viewer’s image. Add to this hundreds of hours of coding, in order to transform the dictionary into a literary, musical and visual work of art.
